There are many things involved in been a professional poker player that many don't realize. Though playing poker professionally gives flexibility and some free time but comes at a higher cost of other things like long hours of grinding mental exhaustion, downswing, bankroll management,
It takes discipline, high level of dedication and hard work. It's not a profession for lazy people.

  1. You need a big bankroll, so you can consistently play the same stakes.
  2. Gameplan: Plan out what stakes your going to play, and track your results.
  3. Fix your leaks: Study your own game(and others), but try to correct your mistakes if you misplay hands. Always look for ways to improve.
  4. Bankroll management
  5. No punting, always play your best
If you follow those tips above, you should at least win more than you lose over the long haul.

I think it takes incredible discipline, bankroll management, and emotional control. You need to treat it like a business, not gambling. Plus you have to constantly study and adapt since the game evolves. The mental toughness to handle swings and bad beats professionally is probably the hardest part.

It takes mental stamina, discipline, emotional control and years of study to be a professional player. A professional is not only good at cards, but he is good at figures, and pressure.

So many people feel that it is easy to make money with Poker. I think that is one of the most laughable assumptions in the world. To be a pro poker player, one really has to build mental fortitude at the highest level. One needs high level of discipline and consistency in learning alongside knowledge about the poker game to be pro.

.

Never thought about becoming a professional player. I believe the first criteria is to be highly skilled with the poker game and the second most important criteria is have a lot of cash. I think you also need soft skills like emotional control.

Being a pro in anything looks easy from the outside but poker is one of those things that will humble you fast. The freedom is nice but the long hours, the mental stress and the constant swings make it a tough road. You need discipline, patience, and a strong mind to survive it. It’s definitely not a path for anyone who wants an easy ride.

My mood right now lol
It's that time of year. Holiday time. When you have to be nice to people. It's a perfect time for poker players to practice their bluffing skills.
