Do you hire a poker coach to teach you how to be a winning player?

Poker is a complex gamble and need high level of mental exertion. To be successful in poker game, you must need a poker coach to streamline some difficult areas like poker math. Though, i don't buy the idea of hiring a poker coach except when the player was aspiring to go professional!
If you are aspiring to be a professional player, hiring a poker coach is necessary

I had one player attempt to coach me awhile back. He tried to convert me into only playing heads up sit and go's, and I like tournaments too much. We disagreed on that, because I believe online tournaments are beatable with good decision making, and bankroll management.

It didn't last too long, but we're still friends.

hiring a coach is like the end goal once you have already made it imo its more mental/life coaching that alot need, try get in study groups of players around your level and stay flexible with thought process to stop tunnel vision etc. having a friend or someone you can share hands with that has a balanced/informed decision is more beneficial for most wanting to learn instead of a "coach" that wants to dump as much info on you in a short amount of time that is normally expensive. ive never been coached as such but ive helped people and not blind to the fact that it helps most people. gl, ask questions where you can and keep coaching money for buyins!!!

it can take months to see any result from study also, poker is a long process and nothing teaches you like seeing things and playing hands

I don't believe that a poker coach would really do something drastic to improve by poker ability right now. I am taking video tutorials to learn deeper about poker. And I am getting valuable experience playing as regularly as I can. I won't need a poker coach. And I won't hire one.

never say never bro, help comes from the craziest places in poker not necessarily coaches. so much free content out there just be careful what you absorb as there is alot of rubbish too

its algood watching videos or whatever but its how you integrate it into your gametree that will make you money. just make sure you have a solid foundation (trunk) to play from

Yeah! There is a lot of rubbish out there. Some of free resources will leave you more confused than ever! I can equally say that the rubbish seem to be more than the quality contents! Most of those content creators are still newbies in game of poker!

No, I haven't hired a poker coach yet. I've been learning mostly through online videos, and just playing a lot. Maybe someday I'll get coaching if I want to take it more seriously, but for now I'm trying to improve on my own through practice and studying.

One can hire a coach, but I love self-learning and experimentation. Observing the professionals, reading books about the strategies, and training tools were more beneficial to my game than any coaching could be.

Frankly speaking, I have never tried hiring a coach to learn poker. I watched some video tutorials and then started playing. If you plan on playing professionally and if you plan on playing for money, I think it makes sense to hire a coach and learn from the master.

How good is the person I want to hire as a coach is the first question I need to answer. Also, is he or she a very good teacher? Some people might be very good at playing poker but they suck at teaching. The last question is if I can afford paying for the learning sessions?

I don't because I don't play poker at all. But for people who are serious about it, a coach probably makes sense if you're playing regularly and want to move up in stakes. It's like any skill having someone point out your mistakes and bad habits speeds up improvement way faster than figuring it all out yourself.
