Most parents are never cool with their kids playing poker because it's gambling to them which is wrong. My mother will literally kill anyone in my family if she found out you're gambling.

Do you gamble openly or secretly in your family?

Fortunately, I never had to do such a thing because I grew up in a huge family, where almost every single one of my uncles. As well as both of my parents and all my siblings have played poker.Thankfully, I was brought up in a respectful household, but also a household that knew the value of a good poker player. Not only can you gain a lot of knowledge from poker about the actual game, but in my experience playing poker. My whole life has taught me a lot of core values that I extend in my everyday life

Wow, that's very interesting. It's a completely different story in your situation because it's very clear that you had a family which is rooted well in the culture of playing poker. There's no way they wouldn't be doing enough to put you on the right track on how to play successfully.

I was introduced to poker by my family. It's how I started playing many years ago in a home game.

poker was just a progression in card games really, i played all sorts of card games growing up with family so was lucky i think. My mum was shocked at the volume etc when she realised what i was doing but she wanted me to open her a pokerstars account, this was like 2008, she can play well but doesnt play much atm, maybe when she retires she says. My partner is supportive of me playing and can play well also

Ordinarily, I don't need to hide that I'm playing poker from my immediate family members because if I need to do that, it means I'm doing something very wrong which they don't approve. I'm not currently staying with any of my family members, so there's no way they would know I play poker.

I don't think I have to hide my poker playing activities from my family. Poker is not your regular kind of gambling that has a negative reputation in my place, unless you are not smart about it. My family members know I play poker and I can boldly tell my parents and siblings that I am at a poker room if they call while I am there.

My sister is aware that I play poker. I've not told my parents because they might find it too complex to understand and trying to explain what it entails is not what I have in mind at this point at all.

Have a good foundation is very good when it playing poker because with your family being the ones that introduced playing poker to you, it means you have enough support and knowledge backing your growth and development.

Your sister would understand easily when being explained to what playing poker is all about unlike your parents. They might think you're getting involved in an illegal activities.

As long as you're very smart in how you play, there's nothing for your parents to worry about. It's those players whom are very erratic that would have their family members panic when they find out their son is playing poker. Such people might sell their stuffs to raise money just to play more.

I don't hide anything because I never actually gamble honestly. It's just not something I've gotten into so there's no need for secrecy. I totally get what you mean though a lot of families see gambling as this terrible thing and parents freak out about it.

I know so many people whom their life principles is totally against any form of gambling and that's probably the situation you're in. There's nothing wrong in choosing not to gamble because most people into it aren't that successful.

Actually, I hide gambling generally from my family because in my home country, they believe that gamblers are irresponsible. Although, my parents don't really understand what poker is, so I don’t always mention how much I win or lose.

It's a very common thing for most African homes especially if your parents are the religious type. They're going to start preaching the gospel to just to make a point about what you're doing being a sin.

This is the reason I've never bothered letting my parents know. Sometimes, they wonder how I got to spend the kind of money that I spend daily without knowing that it was all from playing poker.

All my family members know that I play poker. There is nothing to hide because if I start doing it, there is a high chance that they will find out for themselves and the repercussions won't be funny at all.
