I tried learning French back in school and failed miserably. Years later, I picked it up again using Duolingo just for fun. I’m nowhere near fluent. It's funny how languages feel impossible at first, then one day you catch yourself understanding a random phrase and it may click. It might be slow, but it feels good if it eventually clicks.

I know some spanish and creole, as my dad was born and raised in Cape Verde, but I can't speak it entirely.

Quite a few years ago now, I attempted to learn Spanish, but after a while, I found that I didn't have the time to dedicate to learning any more, so I gave it up.

I also learned German in school, which was something that I was placed into, though, and I could not make a change. Had I been able to change the language, I would have been better off learning French, as I have French family members.

It was English language which I learned about 8 years back. I took some classes and practiced a lot though honestly I'm still improving. becoz Learning a new language as an adult is way harder than people think..

I understand your point! Learning a language as an adult is not easy at all. The funny thing is that the little progress is like a big achievement. Sometimes if I understand just a phrase in French, it would be like I just won a lottery. 🤣

I only know how to speak 3 languages now. They are English, French and Spanish. I'm going to learn how to speak German language soon.
