Is it easier to build a bankroll playing cash games compared to tournaments?

Personally, I prefer tournaments because you can lose your bankroll faster, when you go broke, and lose all your chips in a tournament, it only costs you your buy-in. It's easier to set limits in tournaments for me. However, you can build your bankroll faster in cash games, unless you win a big tournament.

How about you? Do you think cash games are easier than tournaments or vice versa?

I always feel that it is easier to build a bankroll with cash games. You don't lose big amounts playing. And if you are a pro, you can win steady small amounts consistently to build your bankroll. The best part is that you can quit when you discover you are losing too much unlike tournaments.

Tournament is not well suited to build bankroll. In tournament, either you break the bank or you go without. But in cash games, you can be cashing in gradually. Moreover, most tournament cost a fortune to participate. Therefore, it is not suitable for a poker player who is still managing bankrolls.

I'm not into poker myself, but from what I understand, they're different skills. Cash games seem more about consistent, patient play and bankroll management, while tournaments require adjusting to changing blind levels and survival mode. Tournaments have that high variance where you can play great and still bust out unlucky, but cash games are more forgiving of mistakes since you can rebuy. Depends on your temperament I guess.

Any poker player who wants to build a bankroll should consider the cash games more. I’m not saying the tournament can't be used also, but for stability, I think cash games are better. Yes, cash games are more stable to build bankroll. With tournaments, there are a lot of factors like big swings, big payouts, but you can also lose a lot of money. In cash games, you can set a session, play small, cash out when you hit a target. Consistency makes it easier. So, you still need discipline and good strategy, for long-term bankroll growth, cash games are more predictable for me.

For me, cash games are easier. Tournaments need patience and luck, and sometimes one bad hand and you’re gone. With cash games, you can leave anytime and manage losses better.
