Almost every social app now copies the same features like stories, short videos, recommendation feeds, AI assistants. Why are various platforms becoming more or similar similar? Is originality becoming risky for tech companies?

This will always happen with technology and websites as time advances and new trends emerge online. Competing sites tend to copy each other to stay afloat. I’ve added a few small features I’ve seen on other sites, but I still take pride in trying to make PCF stand out from the rest.

Short videos and recommendation feeds are becoming a trend, and it was the users of sites are loving, so if you can add that kind of thing to your site, it's a bonus for you, as those who are looking for sites with those options tend to want to use new places that offer those options.

I always used to use just TikTok for short-form videos, but now I use TikTok, YouTube and Instagram since they brought the ability to post short-form videos to their sites.

They are not becoming scam some of the platform just fold up because of financial issue or insufficient fund to pay their worker's

Platforms are becoming more similar because once a feature proves it increases engagement or retention, competitors feel pressured to adopt it quickly rather than risk losing users. Originality is still valuable, but large tech companies often prioritize predictable growth over experimentation.

I remember when each platform had its own personality, now it's all copy and paste everywhere. Even banking apps is like social media now. Sometimes I miss when apps would just do one thing and do it well instead of this feature overload everywhere.

I think they are trying to accommodate all sorts of users and they do not want their users to go elsewhere. They are also afraid of their competitors or growing platforms, so in order to avoid losing members, they are copying each other.
