Should casinos ban phones at the table entirely?

I watched a game and one guy kept checking his phone with every hand. To me, that is a distraction. Banning phones fully might not work, but there should be restrictions during active hands. A total ban might not work.

Most ask that you don’t use them at the table game.

Lots of people take selfies at tables and slots. Dealers and floor people are usually good about telling them they can’t at the pit.

But around slots, most get away with it unless it’s becoming a problem for other patrons.

But just remember, Surveillance can easily Zoom in and see what’s in the phone and in most cases, they’re in their legal right to do so.

In most cases phones are banned from the tables. However, I know some influencers are allowed to stream on their phones while they play.

I think in most scenarios phones should be banned as they are already(streamers, first timers etc should get more leeway).
Rules are there for a reason.

I get your point about banning phones but a total ban might cause different problems. Imagine someone waiting for urgent message then they must stand up every few minutes to attend to it. That alone can breaks the flow of the table. I think restrictions during active hands makes more sense.

They are partially banned, meaning that you have your phone but you're not allowed to use it in a way that would interfere with the game play. Someone might have an emergency call, and that should be allowed to taken.

I think it will be better to ban phones while players are on the table, this way you can prevent people from cheating during gameplay.

I agree they should be banned, unless they're a well known player who's just livestreaming. In those cases they still should be closely monitored so they don't do something shady.

In our place, phones aren't generally banned in casinos, you are even allowed to take selfie at the table. However, video recording is strictly prohibited. I think instead of ban, there should be a general request to not use it while playing.

Some people are very mischievous. If everyone is allowed to use their smartphone on the table playing poker, they will definitely cheat. This is why I'm in support of banning phones on the table.

A full ban would probably be excessive.
Phones can distract players and slow the game, and there are valid concerns around fairness or outside assistance. But they’re also part of how people manage breaks, messages, or downtime during long sessions. I believe stricter limits make more sense than a total ban

I don’t think a full ban is realistic or even necessary. Phones are part of how people live now, and players use them for music, quick notes, or even tracking hands.
But I do think casinos should restrict active use during hands, especially anything that could involve coaching or outside help.
