Is poker a game of skill or luck?

I think poker is a mix of luck and skill. Sure, short-term results can be shaped by luck, but long-term victory in this game comes down to strategy, skill, and other factors. Players who are good at poker have a better shot at making more money in the long run. What do you think?

When I lose, it's complete luck for anyone that takes me out 😂

I think poker is 50% skill, 20% luck, 30% mental discipline.

Ultimately, poker is and always will be gambling. It's possible to go on a mega-run of bad beats, despite being a great player, that could wipe out your entire bankroll. Skill does of course play a big part, but luck is a massive factor too.

I'm not sure I'd like to try and put percentage figures on it, but I personally don't think skill accounts for 50% "poker ability" as such.

Actually, I think even more games than poker are a mix of skill and luck. For instance, I think probability is involved to some degree in hitting a 3-pointer in basketball etc. Anyway, (regarding sports and games) you can't have one without the other, so, of course, skill plays a big role.

Yes, that is correct. Winning at poker requires both skill and luck. Without one of these elements, it becomes challenging to win. Therefore, it is essential to have both when playing poker.

Well, I have met lucky players who easily won pots, but consistent winners are the ones using strategy and adjusting their playstyle based on the travel circumstances.
