If you can handle the swings, I think cash games are a faster way to build your bankroll, but not necessarily the easiest. I prefer tournaments, because of big payouts if you win against a field with a lot of players.

My poker bankroll is different and separate from my normal bankroll. I don't like mixing them up because of the possibility of using more than what I'm meant to from either of the bankroll.
