Alaskan Poker Pro Outlasts 23 Entries To Earn $51,750

Adam Hendrix has crossed the $7 million mark in career poker tournament earnings following his latest victory on the live circuit. The Alaskan poker pro triumphed over 23 entries in the first of three 2024 PokerGO Tour Texas PLO Roundup high rollers, claiming the $51,750 prize from the $5,100 buy-in pot-limit Omaha event.

This marks Hendrix’s 10th tournament win, adding to his impressive tally of 262 in-the-money finishes. As the champion, Hendrix also earned 52 PGT points, making this his second qualifying score of 2024.

The event took place on Friday, Nov. 22, at Champions Club Texas in Houston, with a $115,000 prize pool split among the top four finishers.

In a pivotal moment, six-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Josh Arieh eliminated Jose Rodriguez on the money bubble. Arieh’s bottom pair and wrap draw defeated Rodriguez’s middle pair and potential backdoor flush, allowing Arieh to make a king-high straight and lock in a payout for himself and the other three finalists.

Orod Ashegh received $12,650 when Hendrix made a Broadway straight on the river, overtaking Ashegh’s top and bottom pair. Ashegh was followed by Arieh, who was eliminated in third place for $18,400. Arieh’s all-in with top and bottom pair and a flush draw couldn’t match Hendrix’s middle set, which turned into quads on the river. With over $13.4 million in career earnings, Arieh remains one of the game’s most successful players.

Hendrix entered heads-up play with a chip advantage of roughly 9:5 over Sean Rafael. The final hand came after a flop of 10-8-4, with Hendrix holding Q-Q-10-6 against Rafael’s J-8-7-5. Rafael hit a five on the turn, giving him eights and fives, but the river brought a 4 to improve Hendrix to queens and fours, securing him the victory.

Rafael earned $32,200 for his second-place finish, bringing his lifetime tournament earnings to over $442,000.
