Hungarian poker sensation Andras Nemeth continues to dominate the European Poker Tour (EPT) high-roller circuit. Out of his eight career live tournament victories, five have come in prestigious EPT events. His latest triumph was in the €10,200 No-Limit Hold’em Mystery Bounty tournament at the 2024 EPT Prague. Nemeth outlasted a competitive 42-entry field to claim $140,959, evenly split between prize pool earnings and mystery bounties.

This win brings Nemeth’s career live earnings to nearly $7.7 million, marking his 19th six-figure score and 173rd cash overall. The victory also earned him 300 Player of the Year (POY) points, his first of the 2024 season.

Tournament Highlights

The €10,200 Mystery Bounty event kicked off the 43-event EPT Prague festival, generating a $420,799 prize pool. The top six players earned payouts, leaving Maksim Vaskresenski as the unfortunate bubble boy when his A-J fell to Nikita Kuznetsov’s A-K.

Among the notable finishers was Niklas Astedt, the 2024 World Series of Poker Main Event third-place finisher. Astedt, who has amassed over $4.8 million in POY earnings this year, exited in sixth place ($57,028) after his A-7 was cracked by Morten Klein’s pocket sevens.

Klein (5th – $29,362) and Ilya Pavlov (4th – $24,062) followed, setting the stage for a three-handed battle between Nemeth, Michail Manolakis, and Kuznetsov. Nemeth seized the momentum by making a bold hero call with ace-high against Manolakis’ queen-high bluff to claim the chip lead.

Final Showdown

Kuznetsov (3rd – $74,730) was eliminated after his J-10 failed to overcome Nemeth’s A-6. This set up a thrilling heads-up duel between Nemeth and Manolakis. Despite an early lead by Manolakis, Nemeth fought back with a crucial double-up and a clutch bluff catch to regain control.

The decisive hand saw Manolakis shove his last 15 big blinds with Q♠J♠, only to run into Nemeth’s A♦3♦. The board ran out K♠J♥8♦A♠5♠, giving Nemeth a pair of aces to secure the title. Manolakis took home $94,658 as the runner-up.
