Antonio Esfandiari, a fan favorite from the poker boom era known for his $1 million buy-in victory at the 2012 WSOP Big One for One Drop, is making his return to the spotlight for Season 2 of PokerStars’ Big Game on Tour. After taking a step back from the poker scene, “The Magician” is set to face off in high-stakes cash games against a lineup that includes both seasoned pros and a “Loose Cannon” player—a non-professional selected through auditions to receive a life-changing stake in the game. Nikki Limo and Lily Newhouse were chosen as Loose Cannons during auditions held at Resorts World as part of the 2023 North American Poker Tour (NAPT) in Las Vegas.

The NAPT event kicked off at Resorts World, with the new season promising an exciting mix of players. Alongside Esfandiari, poker icons like Phil Hellmuth will be featured, while special guests like NFL star Rob Gronkowski add a new level of entertainment. Hustler Casino Live personality Alan Keating, sports analyst Nick Wright, and PokerStars ambassador Lex Veldhuis are also on the roster, promising a star-studded cast for Big Game on Tour Season 2.

Esfandiari’s participation is a notable return, as he’s mostly stepped away from competitive poker, making few public appearances since his last on High Stakes Poker in early 2023. His presence, along with the anticipated rivalry with Hellmuth—whom he lost to in a high-stakes heads-up match in 2020—adds another layer of intrigue. Season 1 of Big Game on Tour featured stars like Hellmuth, Jennifer Tilly, Michael Ian Black, and poker personalities such as Phil Laak and Maria Ho, proving a successful reboot.
