My friends are wanting to start regular poker nights. They think it will be a good way of getting us together as we don't see each other as often as we used to due to careers and families. I was too embarrassed to tell them that I have NEVER played Poker before. I don't even know how so I searched for somewhere I could speak to experts and get some advice.

That's why I am here.

Do you have, or know of, any resources for a noob like me? I understand cards. I have played blackjack (sometimes called 21) and a few other games, but I was always put off from Poker as it looked complicated. Can you help me?

Well, ain't that a bitch:

I'll do some searching on YouTube. Is that going to be my best option to learn?
The video was from YouTube. I didn't know they made it country restricted, but yes a basic introduction from YouTube to Holdem would be a good place to start.

Well, we had our first poker night and I think I was still trying to pick up the basics of the game so I didn't do very well at all. We are restricting the money involved so that no one is going to suffer from a major loss. £10 per player maximum stake. I tried bluffing and things but I think because of the amount of money involved no one is really too concerned about taking a loss.

I don't want to increase the financial risks. Neither does anyone else.

How can we make the game more interesting?

Good luck to you, I been playing a couple years and still learning things.

I recommend finding any free beginner study tools you can find and grow from there. It's surprising how much amazing content that there is out here. Best of luck!
