There are some players that have so excellent movement such that they know how to position themselves for those tap-ins. From no where, you would always see them in front of goal ready to pounce on those tap-ins and loose balls.

Do you rate a striker that specializes in scoring tap-ins and has scored many-tap ins that high?

A forward player that specializes in tap-in can be very useful. A typical example of such a player is Ruud van Nistelrooy. He’s well known with tap-ins and goals count irrespective of the style.

There is nothing like tap-in player or striker. Goal is goal. Whether it is scored from penalty, dribbling or head, goal is goal. Calling a player tap-in player is somewhat disappointing to me because scoring goals is by far the most difficult thing in football. Some players have received serious injuries trying to score goal . If you are a footballer, you will know it is not easy to score goal.

Why some football fans get frustrated with strikers that are considered tap-in strikers is the fact that those strikers always don't always have impact when the creative players are ineffective or out of form to work the ball for them to score. And in such situations, strikers that have been used to tap-ins would not be able to fall back and create goals for themselves or even other players. Some football fans expect their strikers to also be good on the ball too.
