It doesn't matter the format that you're playing, in showdown, they're all the same. Although, in cash games, a player may decide to show one or both cards at any point during the hand without facing any penalty. But in playing a tournament, cards exposed intentionally or unintentionally, the hand is seen as dead.

Have you intentionally shown someone your hand when playing poker?
 
It's not recommended to show your hands because you're giving away free information to your opponents, and they might be able to use that information against you in a later hand, if you're not careful.

I do, sometimes intentionally show my hands though. I like to change up my table image, and showing your hands can make you look like a weak/new player. Every bit of information helps at the tables, and how other players think/believe you're playing your hands also plays a part.
