Jimmy Butler Traded to Warriors in Blockbuster Four-Team Deal

The Jimmy Butler era in Miami has officially come to an end. The six-time All-Star is heading to the Golden State Warriors as part of a major four-team trade, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Here’s the full breakdown of the deal:
• Warriors receive: Jimmy Butler
• Heat receive: Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson, P.J. Tucker, 2025 first-round pick (via GSW)
• Jazz receive: Dennis Schröder
• Pistons receive: Lindy Waters III, Josh Richardson

Originally, the Toronto Raptors were set to acquire Kyle Anderson, but he will now remain with the Heat. Per Chris Haynes, the 2025 first-round pick Miami is receiving is top-10 protected and will become unprotected in 2026 if not conveyed.

Butler isn’t just getting a fresh start—he’s also secured a payday. As part of the trade, he will decline his 2025-26 player option and sign a two-year, $121 million extension with the Warriors, keeping him under contract through the 2026-27 season.

The trade follows months of escalating tension between Butler and the Heat, culminating in multiple suspensions, including an indefinite one that all but guaranteed his departure. A split seemed inevitable, and now, Butler will look to write his next chapter in Golden State.

Unless the warriors get a real big man, they're still not a contender.

Butler's arrival has already started to show positive results, with the Warriors winning five out of their first six games since his addition. His presence is expected to bring a new level of intensity and skill to the team, potentially turning them into serious contenders.

It's an exciting time for both Butler and the Warriors as they embark on this new chapter together

The lack of a dominant big man remains a concern, as highlighted by their need for a stronger presence in the paint
Golden State has never really had a dominant big man. I think that's the missing piece for a title run though.
