Kristen Foxen and Jeanne David have been selected as the 2024 inductees into the Women in Poker Hall of Fame (WiPHoF), while Starla Brodie is set to make history as the first recipient of the newly introduced Pioneer Award. The induction ceremony will take place next month, celebrating the accomplishments of these trailblazing women.

Established in 2008, the WiPHoF recognizes women who have significantly influenced the poker industry. With this year’s inductions, Foxen and David will join an esteemed group of 25 previous inductees, becoming the Hall’s 26th and 27th members.

This year’s selection process began in September, with the public submitting nominations. A competitive list of candidates emerged, which was narrowed down to eight finalists: Foxen, David, Liv Boeree, Jamie Kerstetter, Kara Scott, Rebecca McAdam Willetts, Annette Obrestad, and Jen Shahade. Voting was conducted by existing WiPHoF members and select members of the poker media.

Player Induction: Kristen Foxen

Kristen Foxen is a poker legend with five World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets and over $8.4 million in live tournament earnings. Her accomplishments include winning the $1,000 Ladies Championship in 2013, the $1,500 NLHE Bounty in 2016, a $2,500 NLHE 6-handed online event in 2020, and the $888 NLHE Crazy 8’s online bracelet in 2023. Most recently, she won her fifth bracelet in Event #19: $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Max during WSOP Online, earning $56,703.

In 2024, Foxen made a deep run in the WSOP Main Event, finishing 13th and taking home $600,000, positioning her among the top 200 all-time money earners in poker. Before dedicating herself to live poker, she achieved Supernova Elite status online at PokerStars from 2011 to 2013.

Industry Induction: Jeanne David

Jeanne David, who retired in 2021, was formerly the head of responsible gaming at PokerStars. She worked extensively on legislative initiatives across the United States and Europe, advocating for the legalization of online poker and responsible gaming measures. Her efforts helped bring online poker to states like Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Nevada. She has also spoken on responsible gaming before the Netherlands parliament and the UK Gambling Commission.

An avid mixed-games player, David is known as the “Queen of Mixed Games.” Approximately 95% of her $250,000 in live tournament winnings are from mixed-game events.

WiPHoF Induction Ceremony & Celebration Bounty Tournament

The 2024 WiPHoF Induction Ceremony and Luncheon will take place on Wednesday, December 11, at 11 a.m. at the Plaza Hotel and Casino in downtown Las Vegas, with PokerStars as the event sponsor. Jan Fisher will serve as the Master of Ceremonies, with Jennifer Tilly giving the keynote address. Public tickets can be purchased at wiphof.com, though seating is limited.

The celebration will continue with a $185 NLHE WiPHoF Celebration Bounty Tournament at 3 p.m. at the Resorts World Poker Room. Open to all, the tournament will feature $50 bounties on each player and a prize basket for knocking out a Hall member. Additionally, the “Last Woman Standing” will win a $1,100 entry to the WPT Ladies Championship.

I honestly thought Kristen Foxen was a newcomer. I didn't know she had 5 WSOP bracelets. I only heard of her since the past WSOP main event when she was chasing history to become the first woman to win it all.
