Soundcloud just launched artist stores.
A way to sell direct to fans on the app with 140m users.
1) Design exclusive merch
2) Made to order on SC
3) Pay no upfront costs
4) Fans get emails & in-app notifications
Oh, and 100% of profits go to the artist.
What can you sell?
- Hats
- T-shirts
- Hoodies
- Vinyl (limited runs)
- Track downloads
- Stems
- Beat packs
- Early access to tickets
- Early access to upcoming releases
Their statement:
"SoundCloud knows that streaming isn’t enough – for artists or for fans. We also know the power of fandom, which is why we’re constantly working on improving how artists and fans connect and share through music."
The beta version of the store is available to a select number of Next Pro artists.
The upside → Sell direct while fans are listening
The downside → It's only print-to-order merch
And...are they coming for Bandcamp?
