Will Phil Hellmuth extend his World Seires of Poker (WSOP) bracelet record? Does Scott Seiver have a Player of the Year repeat performance in store? Who will be the surprise of the summer?

We're all soon going to have those questions answered as the 2025 WSOP officially got underway at Horesehoe and Paris Las Vegas at noon PT on Tuesday. The 56th annual poker extravaganza kicked off with the $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Mystery Millions event. A second tournament, $500 Industry Employees No-Limit Hold'em, will begin at 2 p.m.

Those are just the first two bracelet events out of 100 this summer (plus 30 online at WSOP Online). PokerNews is back again providing unrivaled live reporting coverage of the greatest spectacle in poker for each bracelet event.

What to Look for This Summer

The cards are in the air for what should be another monster summer for the World Series of Poker in its first year under GGPoker ownership. There's a new owner, but the prestige and thrill of chasing bracelets remains the same.

There are many storylines to follow this summer, starting with Seiver, who won three bracelets last year. The reigning Player of the Year turned 40 in the past year, making him eligible for the Poker Hall of Fame. Nick Schulman also turned 40 recently, and many expect the 2025 inductee, which will be announced in July, could come down to those two.

But there are many other players who could bolster their PHOF credentials with strong performances this summer, potentially taking the induction away from Schulman or Seiver. That list includes Mike Matusow, Jeremy Ausmus, Kathy Liebert, Josh Arieh, and a few others.

The Poker Hall of Fame isn't the only focus of the summer. We'll be following Hellmuth's chase for bracelet 18, Phil Ivey's attempt to win his 12th, attendance throughout the series, the Player of the Year race, and many more exciting stories.

Stay tuned to PokerNews all summer long for exclusive coverage from inside the ropes at the 2025 World Series of Poker.
