Fish is an important term in poker. Someone who is 'a fish' is a person who is inexperienced or not a very good poker player. They often make errors and dump chips quickly. If you are still a Fish, don't worry, we all begin as 'fish'. With practice and patience, you will get better at the poker table.

I only eat 🐟 and chips so I guess I'm a 🦈

They say if you don't recognize the fish at the table within the first 20 minutes, you are the fish.

You’re are absolutely right mate! They are very easy to spot truly because they might make mistakes or bet too much. If you can't really spot a weak player immediately, then you might be the fish.

This was one of the first sayings I ever heard when starting to play poker, and it couldn't be more true. The fish is quite often (although not always) the player with one of the largest stacks and is frankly rather clueless at mathematical calculation and so is ripe for the pickings long-term.
