Tyler Montoya Strikes Gold Early at 2025 WSOP — Pulls $1M Mystery Bounty on Day 2
It didn’t take long for life-changing money to make an appearance at the 2025 World Series of Poker. Just a few envelopes into Day 2 of Event #1: $1,000 Mystery Millions, 23-year-old Tyler Montoya pulled the coveted $1 million mystery bounty, stunning the rail and instantly turning heads across the tournament floor.
Out of a massive 19,654 entries across five Day 1 flights, Montoya became the first player this year to rip open a seven-figure envelope. His pull came as just the seventh bounty of the day—right after someone else revealed a $100,000 prize.
“WSOP, baby. A millionaire at 23. Let’s go!” Montoya said, clearly still processing the moment.
And if you’re wondering what he plans to do with the money? Montoya didn’t hold back:
“If you’re a stripper, you should be working tonight.”
No lies told — with a few solid Vegas spots a short ride away from the Horseshoe, Montoya’s got options.
From Unknown to Millionaire
The Mystery Millions event has built a reputation for drama and big reveals, and Montoya now joins Matt Glantz, who pulled the first $1M envelope back in 2022, in the small club of players who’ve hit the biggest possible prize.
In total, this year’s mystery bounty pool includes:
With over 800 players still left when Montoya pulled his bounty, plenty of money is still up for grabs. And interestingly, he’s already locked up more than what the winner of the event will earn from the main prize pool.
Montoya, who already has nearly half a million in live tournament earnings, says he plans to use some of his new bankroll to ramp up his WSOP schedule this summer.
Big win, bold quotes, and one hell of a story to kick off the 2025 series.
