I have two quotes both from Doyle. “We are all playing the same game… Well almost”

“Texas Holdem is the Cadillac of poker”

Frank Jerome once said that 'poker is 90% psychology and 10% mathematics'. I felt that.

I agree with Frank Jerome. Psychology is key in poker. It is so much easier to get along with while playing and not become overwhelmed with your feelings.

1. “Poker is a skill game, not a lottery.” – Chris Moneymaker
2. “Poker is all about calculating risks and rewards before taking action.” – Phil Hellmuth

3. “You can’t lose a game if you don’t play.” – Chris Ferguson

4. “It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get up.” – Daniel Negreanu

5. “In poker, as in life, there’s no perfect way to play. You just play the best you can.” – Phil Ivey
6. “Poker is 80% skill, 20% luck, and 100% psychology.” – Amarillo Slim

7. “If you can’t spot the sucker in your first half-hour at the table, then you are the sucker.” – Damon Runyon

8. “Poker is like sex: everyone thinks they’re the best player.” – Chris Moneymaker
9. “You can’t control the cards, only how you play them.” – Doyle Brunson

10. “Every poker player believes in chance. Every poker player believes in luck. But there is nothing mystical about luck. It is simply the accumulation of skill applied to mathematics and probability.” – Phil Hellmuth

My favourite poker quote is still from Jack Straus. The quote is,

"All you need is a chip and a chair".

This his quote always resonates in my mind when it seems that the tides are against me on the poker table. It reflects the poker attitude of not giving up.

I don't really follow poker quotes that closely but I've heard some good ones over the years.
  • “As long as you've got 'a chip and a chair', there's still hope”
