Do you believe new players get beginners luck at poker?

I don't believe in luck in that way, yes everyone gets lucky at times, but beginners tend to make bad plays/calls more often. A beginner may call preflop raises more with bad holdings due to their lack of knowledge and when they hit the flop and crush the better had with 75 OS etc. it seems like they are luckier than most.

I have a feeling that some of the more unscrupulous poker sites might code in something that makes newer players more likely to receive better hole cards, to make them feel like they are winning/getting close more often and thus want to play more.

Might be a wild crackpot theory, but also might be something behind it!

It's 100% possible for sites that operate using Poker Mavens. Owners/admins can view hole cards in the backend. You need to trust the admins before playing at any of those sites.

New players can sometimes feel like they have beginners luck, but it’s mostly variance, not real luck advantage.
In poker, short-term results can swing wildly. A new player might win a few big hands early just because the cards happened to go their way, not because they’re playing better.
