I always have a plan before I start any poker game. I always set my winning goal at three buy-ins. At the point that I hit that goal, I stand up and leave. I don't want to take unnecessary risks and lose the profits. My stop loss is set at two buy-ins. I must break at that point to evaluate and clear my head.

I would go it with the mindset to leave if I lost X amount of money. If I walk in with a certain amount of cash, then once I'm at a certain point then I walk away before I've lost too much that I can't walk away from.

When all the money you pot down so far is taken by the house, know when it's not your day.

Knowing when to end a session is a discipline test. I learnt that the hard way. One night, I tell myself “one more hand.” That one more hand wipe half my profit. I don't do that anymore.

I end the session when my mindset shifts. When I feel tilted, tired, or start making rushed decisions, I’m done with the game. I also stop when I hit my planned win or loss limit.
