Reading your opponents' tells is crucial when you're playing poker in person. Most players watch for small things maybe someone's hand trembles slightly, their face twitches, or they have some nervous tick that surfaces when they're bluffing. Others pay attention to betting patterns or how someone acts when things get tense at the table.

It really makes you think: how do players actually spot these signals in the moment? And when they do, how often are they actually right about what they mean?

In live poker, players usually build reads by comparing how someone acts in different hands. If a player is normally calm but suddenly starts acting rushed or overly confident, that shift is easily noticeable.

Live poker players usually look for small behavioral changes rather than dramatic tells. Things like unusual hesitation, quick bets, nervous chip handling, posture shifts, or sudden silence are common tells. But most experienced players rely more on betting patterns and timing.

I am not very good at reading other people while playing, however, I try to watch their faces, body language as well as their betting patters.

It depends on the player. Some players have very obvious physical tells in live poker, while others are much harder to read. If you're observant, you can often pick up valuable information from a player's behavior, timing, or body language that can help influence your decisions.
