From music, games, videos, to purchases, opinions and news and information, we are now becoming recommended by platforms we are using. Are we now being dictated by algorithms?

This algorithm talk makes me feel like I don't have control over my own phone again . I was literally thinking about this yesterday when I opened YouTube for one small tutorial and ended up watching clips I never searched for. Sometimes I just miss when the internet was a manual exploration, not what we have now.

I truly believe that algorithms are actually dictating us. It is influencing our choices and habits. Today, from making an investment to buying things, we are feed by algorithm. It is all business for them but for us, it is altering our lifestyle choices.

To some extent, yes. Algorithms influence what we see online, from news and videos to products and opinions. However, they don't completely dictate our choices. We still decide what to engage with.

I would say that to an extent, algorithms are dictating us, but I also know, because I have done it myself, that you can get algorithms to work in your favour by showing you what you want to see as opposed to them wanting you to see things.

I have managed to do that with my TikTok FYP and I really hope I can keep it that way

Algorithms greatly influence our attention. It is algorithms that is the biggest influence of what we see online. People no longer casually browse and run the into stuff online.
