Having great mathematic skills will help you increase your chances of winning the game, but math knowledge is not a must for one to play poker. Poker is a game of physical and psychological skill, many of the professionals use instincts, knowledge and feelings to make most of their choices. Also, in today’s world, there is a lot of poker applications and aids that will allow you to make correct decisions.

You don't need to be very good at math to be good at poker, but it helps to have a understanding of odds. It can benefit your game, and a lot of strong players have some math skills.

At a most basic level for cheap games poker math is easy. Cards needed / Unseen cards. But most people cant even do fractions so people just round it off to a easy formula that is close enough: % = outs x 2 .

The only estimate of pot odds is basically the only basic math that you need to be successful at the poker tables. Plus you need to learn the rule of 2 and the rule of 4 to be a successful poker player.

Probably, I only have a third grade education and make tens of dollars a year playing poker.

I don't think you must know probability to be successful in poker but it gives a player an edge over others that don't have the knowledge. I think the most important factor to be successful in poker is luck and huge bankroll.
