Poker creators are constantly getting false strikes from the platform, is there any way around this for the game?

PokerTriton was forced off YouTube last month
Poker has always been under threat from things like governments, cheats and bots, but it has been surprising how much of an enemy of the game YouTube has become.

Ever since stricter rules came in last year, poker creators have seen their numbers dwindle massively. Worse yet, many have become the victim of false strikes.

Last week, Triton's streams in Jeju were removed, and last month, top streamer Spraggy got a false strike.

This is terrible news for the game, as YouTube is a massive organic way for new people to find poker. Twitch and Kick are awesome for showing the game to young, tech-savvy, potential customers, but YouTube really does potentially bring the whole world to poker.

I wrote last week that I was excited about the WSOP streaming on ESPN again, but even more excited about all the prelim events being streamed free on YouTube. I sincerely hope the WSOP has a direct line to the folks at YouTube, or it could be an opportunity wasted.

The frustration in poker, particularly for content creators, is that there is no right to reply. An algorithm is what gives the false strikes, and nobody in poker seems to have a direct line to a human at the company who can help.

All of which makes me think Bencb nailed it when he said that getting a legal team involved is the only way to deal with this issue.

As important as it is that poker creators mobilise and spread awareness for each other on false strikes, probably a better use of their collective efforts would be to join forces as part of a class action type of arrangement whenever one of them is unfairly restricted.

It's not really an option for new content creators for whom this would be very expensive. But for the established creators, it might send a message to YouTube that the cost of not having human moderation will be pricey when poker content is involved.

I really hope this is how it can shake out, because it would be very sad if poker was forced off the biggest video platform in the world.
