Poker can be a game of confidence, but sometimes the hardest part isn't losing a hand, it's hearing someone criticize the way you played it.

Whether it's another player questioning your decision, a friend pointing out a mistake, or someone criticizing your overall strategy, constructive criticism can be valuable. At the same time, not all criticism is accurate or given with good intentions.

A strong poker player needs to separate ego from decision-making, recognize when criticism has value, and be willing to admit when they got a hand or situation wrong.

What’s the harshest criticism you’ve ever received about your poker game—and did it actually make you a better player?

Have you ever dismissed someone’s criticism, only to realize later that they were right? Or do you think criticism at the table is often just another form of psychological warfare? Let's hear the story behind it.

If it's from someone I know and they're helping me learn the game, then I would say "yes".

If it's from some cocky know-it-all that I've never met then probably not.

I welcome constructive criticism, even though I’m confident in my game. If someone is genuinely trying to help me improve, I have no problem listening to them.

If a player is just telling everyone that they play badly without actually offering any useful advice or pointers, I won’t pay much attention to it. I also try to keep my emotions in check because I’m aware that getting other players on tilt may be part of their game plan.

Of late I haven't played with strangers, I only play with friends and family. There are situations when some people start criticizing me, but I don't mind because the people I am playing with are my friends and family
