Hey guys, wanted to get some opinions on a hand that’s been bothering me.

This was in a live Mystery Bounty tournament, still around 2-3 hours away from the bounty stage.

Blinds were 1,000 / 1,000 BB ante.

I was the chip leader at my table with about 160k, while the average stack in the tournament was around 70k.

Hand:

I open preflop to 6k (1 limper, I'm on CO) with K♣ Q♣, one player calls(SB).

Flop: J♣ 3♣ T♥

I c-bet 12k, villain raises to 42k.
I call.

Turn: Q♠
Pot is now around ~90–100k

I check, villain shoves for about 60k effective.
I call.

He shows JJ for a set. I brick the river and bust (left with like 3.8k after the hand).

Thought process:

  • On the flop I have a huge combo draw (flush draw + OESD + 2 overs), so folding felt impossible.
  • On the turn I improve to top pair + still have a ton of outs (flush + straight).
  • Pot odds felt decent, and I thought I had enough equity even vs strong hands.
What’s bothering me:

  • I was a big chip leader, way above average.
  • This was before the bounty phase, so no immediate bounty incentive.
  • Getting it in here feels like a high-variance spot that might not be necessary in a tournament.
Question:

Is this just a standard call given the equity and pot odds,
or is this actually a mistake because of the tournament context (ICM / being chip leader / pre-bounty stage)?

Should I be avoiding these kinds of spots even with a hand this strong?
