It depends on the structure. Sometimes I'll join early if there's no addon at break, or if the addon isn't 3x the starting stack or more.

I usually always join late with 20 minutes or less, left of late registration when playing micros, and try to snipe a deep run/final table. I find I cash in more tourneys when I join late, and make more final tables. I like to a have at least 8-10 BB's, but if there's an addon I'll wait until last min, and then try to make a run with the addon.

How about you? Do you prefer joining early or in late registration when you grind online MTTS?

I would love to join online poker tourneys late. I would do so to avoid the grind while building up your stack relatively faster. I understand that stacks are short when you join late but as far as it is playable, it is fine.

I’m similar, I usually pay attention to the structure first. If the addon isn’t worth it or there’s none, I might join early. But most of the time I like to come in late, around the last 15–20 minutes of registration. It gives me a decent stack and fewer players to climb past. If there’s a big addon, I’ll hang until the last minute and then try to push a deep run with it.

For me, timing and stack size matter more than rushing in.
