I think it’s better to grind micro stakes and move up as your bankroll grows. That said, I do like to reward myself occasionally by taking a shot at a bigger buy-in when I’ve been running well.

Which do you think is better, grinding micro stakes or taking shots at bigger buy-ins?

I believe grinding microstakes is usually the better foundation. I think taking shots is a controlled way to accelerate progress.
Grinding gives you volume, experience, and stability. You learn patterns, build discipline, and grow your bankroll without high pressure.

All this “take shot” talk is sweet until variance slaps you. I used to feel like king anytime I win, next thing I would jump stake and boom, the story changed. Now I just dey grind micros slow and steady. It's boring sometimes but at least my bankroll is intact.

Ibthunk this depends on your gut feeling. Grinding microstakes is boring but safe. Taking shots can pay off, but one bad run hurts. I'd say grind until you've got extra buy-ins you don't care about losing, then take a smart shot.
