A satellite poker tournament is parlay kind of tournament where the poker site hosts a low entry or free poker tournament in order to boost large buying tournament which is most times played off the poker site as an offline tournament.

Do you have any experience with playing in a satellite poker tournament?

Think I've seen commercials for a place called Chumba casino that offers such a set up. But the place looks pretty cheap.

Never heard of a satellite tournament but most online poker is too hyped. If I played it, I would be guaranteed to get cheated so wouldn't want to play it often.

Satellite tournaments are great. They paved the way to enter into bigger poker events. They are fun and a strategic way to play especially if you are interested in getting into a big tournament without breaking the bank.
