I've never ready any poker books whatsoever. All my knowledge comes from online poker communities, and forums like this one.

However, I do recommend you check out "Super System 2" by Doyle Brunson.

I only heard great things about it, and if you're trying to take poker serious. It's definitely worth a read, or at least check it out.

I have read Super System 2 and it's a great book. I read the Phil Gordon books a year or two after I started ( Little Green Book, Little Blue Book). the first book that I purchased was Killer Poker by John Vorhaus. It really helped develop my early skill set. I read it more than once. I also read his book about online poker. I have read a few others but the only other one that sticks out is the Gus Hansen books that chronicles his Aussie title, great read.

I will say though that the way that you have learned is probably better. so many great online resources out here.

Poker books are a great resource, but because they are printed text the information does become outdated. Books like super system and super system 2 even though they were incredible reads at one time a majority of information is outdated and absolutely. If you're going to take the time to read a poker book I would recommend looking up the most popular and recommended books and then go through that list and pick the ones that you feel are right for you. I love the book The myth of poker talent by Alex Fitzgerald the nice thing about his work is that he tries to explain how to figure things out on your own rather than telling you which techniques are working right now. Once you know how to figure it out on your own you can adjust in that information will be timeless. Another book or Shadow books that I would recommend are by Dana oKearney. He has three books that I found very helpful pko poker strategy, poker satellite strategy and end game poker strategy. All three books are highly recommended and incredibly easy to read and understand.
