How do you feel about players talking trash while playing poker?

I have a military history.

There's no amount of trash you can talk that'll get me off my game. I could probably spit stuff right back at you and really hurt you in the feels, but probably wouldn't during a professional tournament.

This is not new in the game and I think it adds to the social aspect of the game as well. Don't get me wrong, I don't support personal attacks or bullying.

It's funny in freerolls when players get mad, because I'm playing like a donkey. For the most part, I try to avoid talking smack unless it's players I know. Joking around is fun.
Indeed it is, as it adds more liveliness to games. But like you said, I usually do it when I'm with people I'm familiar with and I know it won't escalate.

I suppose if it is all in fun and everyone agrees, then it's okay.

However, if it's causing drama, it can only result in a toxic game. That could cause arguments and even physical altercations. Then you'll get security involved, maybe gaming commission agents and someone could get trespassed, cited, or arrested.

That's all a sore eye on the casino!

It is good to have regard for the other person. Sometimes players like to fool around with their opponents but it can be reckless and get out of hand.

I tend to take things personally, so if people start talking trash, it may upset me.....
Keeping your emotions in check at the table is vital. You can't let your emotions make decisions for you, if a player is talking trash don't let it alter your game plan. I try not to let any table talk get under my skin, playing my best is more important.

I think that is right, it is frustrating to have people engage in trash talk at the poker table. But, it is good to remember to be composed and to concentrate more. So, I try to handle that with maturity and continue with my game.

If I'm around people I know, I'd be more comfortable...

I don't talk trash unless it's people I know, especially trying to be a good leader running a community.

With that being said, I like to joke :p

Unfortunately, some people will always be a piece of trash. I've come to accept that in life and always find a way to ignore them and focus on my objective.

I guess I wouldn't be good in a professional setting then. hehe I'll talk all kinds of shit during other games, but only because I don't pay them for gain, just pure entertainment. My favorite is Scrabble and Monopoly. :)

I'm with you on that. It is always fun to make a few jokes but it should be in moderation . It will only become an issue if taken to a different level. However, if it becomes rude or there is harassment, then it is about time that it is curtailed to prevent it from escalating.

It is really difficult to say what is trash talk and what it not. It all depends on whether you have anything to say on it or not or whether you are involved it or not. Anything you are not interested in becomes trash, right

When players talk trash at poker tables, it takes patience to handle it. Talking at the poker table becomes unacceptable when some players turn it into abusive thing. But each person views trash talking differently based on how they view it.

It's good to have fun, but in serious games, like at Las Vegas, it might be a bad idea. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if there were rules against it. Anyway, the atmosphere at Las Vegas, for instance, is very paranoid. There are cameras everywhere and experts employed to make sure nobody is cheating the house (the house that always wins, lol).

Yes, I believe that humor is part of the game, as long as it is not meant to insult anyone. It should be used lightly and to make others laugh without having to offend anyone.
