Is the "online poker is rigged" mentality actually a defense mechanism for bad players?

I was scrolling through a poker forum this morning and the usual “this site is rigged!!!” comments were flying everywhere after one brutal bad beat. It’s becoming automatic reaction. Instead of reviewing hands, some players jump straight to conspiracy. Sometimes it’s easier to blame the software than admit poor bankroll management or tilt. Ego protection is so real.

I don't think the idea that "online poker is rigged" is unfounded idea. I believe some poker sites, especially, the ones that aren't legally registered, are rigged. But I also believe some people use that statement as a defence mechanism

It all depends on the owners and whether they run their poker sites with integrity. I only promote or support sites that I trust, ones I know take security measures seriously.

Both partners at PCF have a tight-knit group of players, which makes it easier to regulate new participants. This includes tracking locations to help prevent collusion.

I haven't ran into any kind of rigged poker sites or online casinos but I do believe that poker sites or casino sites might be rigged. They might program their games in a way that only a small percentage can will, or might create a lot of wagering rules that could actually stop people from winning or withdrawing.
