Is this gambling or trading?

Gambling and trading are two different things. Right now, I am trying to improve my strategy on binary options, which is considered gambling because the price could move at any direction. I am staking $10. If the price hits the profit target, then I will win money. However, if it misses the profit target, then I may lose my entire stake. So, is this gambling or trading? Should I create a better risk management strategy?

To the best of my knowledge, there's no relationship between trading when it comes to playing poker. Trading is a totally different concept in another field which isn't related to poker but gambling is 100% involved with poker playing.

I know that trading and gambling may seem two different things. However, trading against the house may seem like gambling. Many traders are rarely profitable when they trade against the house. I have been trying to learn how to trade against the house for at least three years without success.

Well, that one is gambling , no sugarcoating. Once the outcome of an event is either up or down without a meaningful control, it's based on luck. I tried it some years ago, but I lost all my money. It doesn't have any strategy unlike Forex

Binary options are all-or-nothing with fixed outcomes and short timeframes. Even with analysis, the structure heavily favors the platform, not the trader. This design makes long-term winning very hard to sustain. Having said that said, risk management is important. Limiting stake size, setting daily loss caps, and avoiding emotional trades might reduce damage.

Trading options or futures have uncertain outcomes but this is not gambling. Gambling generally does not require strategy, whereas trading requires market study, understanding of assets and strategy.

Binary trading is much closer to gambling than it is to trading. Being wrong by a fraction of a penny means that you lose 100% of your investment, that sounds like even advanced gambling to me.

I think the difference shows in whether you have a real edge. With binary options, if your outcomes feel like coin flips, it leans more toward gambling. I keep my risk tiny and track everything so I can see if I actually beat randomness. On the lighter side, I mess around with toto sometimes for casual fun, but I never mix that mindset with trading because it clouds my decisions.
