Some Las Vegas poker rooms are taking new measures to prevent cheating by restricting how players can use their phones at the table.
According to CardPlayer, Station Casinos is now prohibiting players from keeping phones or other electronic devices on the poker table, although players can still use their phones. Card protectors are also reportedly no longer allowed on the table.
The move comes amid concerns about sophisticated cheating methods involving hidden cameras and remote video feeds. Another Las Vegas poker room, South Point, has also changed its dealing method from the traditional pitch to sliding cards across the felt, making it more difficult for cameras to capture card values.
There haven't been any confirmed reports of recent cheating in Las Vegas connected to these measures, but it's interesting to see poker rooms becoming more proactive about security.
