Multi-Tabling Worth It?

A lot of experienced players open several tables at once, but I've always wondered if that is actually beneficial, or let say, whether opening several tables can actually help you win. If you have tried multi-tabling, did it improve your results or did you end up making costly mistakes?

Multi-tabling sounds impressive until your brain gets exhausted. I've tried handling more than one table before and I quickly realized that speed does not always mean profit. One table already demands attention, now imagine three or four all requesting decisions almost together. That's going to be overwhelming.

Multi-tabling can be +EV if you're still an above-average player while playing multiple tables. For me, it's too stressful. I'd much rather stick to one game or, at most, two tables so I can stay locked in and enjoy a more relaxed session.

I think multi-tabling is worth it, but only once you're comfortable with your decision-making on a single table.

When I first started, I found that adding too many tables caused me to rush decisions and miss important information about my opponents. It was much better to gradually increase the number of tables as I became more confident.

These days, I prefer playing 2–4 tables at once. It keeps me engaged and increases the number of hands I play without feeling overwhelmed. I'd rather play fewer tables well than try to manage 8+ tables and make costly mistakes.

Quality of play is always more important than quantity. If adding another table starts hurting your win rate, it's probably better to scale back.

How many tables does everyone here usually play at once?

I'd rather stick to a single table or just a couple at most. I enjoy taking my time with decisions, paying attention to the action, and getting reads on other players. For me, that makes poker more enjoyable than trying to juggle several tables at once.
