Multi-Tabling Worth It?

A lot of experienced players open several tables at once, but I've always wondered if that is actually beneficial, or let say, whether opening several tables can actually help you win. If you have tried multi-tabling, did it improve your results or did you end up making costly mistakes?

Multi-tabling sounds impressive until your brain gets exhausted. I've tried handling more than one table before and I quickly realized that speed does not always mean profit. One table already demands attention, now imagine three or four all requesting decisions almost together. That's going to be overwhelming.
