Should Online and Live WSOP Bracelets Be Equal?​

WSOP online bracelets have become a much bigger part of the World Series of Poker over the past several years, but there is still debate over whether winning one should carry the same prestige as winning a live bracelet.

In a recent Poker.org interview, longtime WSOP commentator Norman Chad argued that online and live bracelets should be considered equal, provided online poker has strong integrity measures in place.

The first WSOP online bracelet was awarded in 2015 in a $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em event. Since then, the number of online bracelet events has grown significantly.

Chad said online tournaments can be extremely difficult because of the strength and size of the fields. He also pointed out that online poker has helped introduce more advanced analytics, mathematics, and GTO-based strategies to the game.

However, Chad still has concerns about online poker, particularly player verification and game integrity. He believes players should have confidence that the person registered for an account is actually the person playing it.

Chad also suggested that online events could potentially have their own type of championship trophy rather than using the same bracelets and rings as live events. He even joked about possibilities such as a watch, necklace, or "anklet."

Another issue Chad raised is the lack of mixed-game online bracelet events. He believes there should be more variety instead of online bracelets being dominated by No-Limit Hold'em.

So there are really two questions here: Should online and live bracelet wins have the same status, and should the WSOP create separate awards for online events?
