The New Year Series No-Limit Hold’em Main Events at PokerStars wrapped up on January 13, with Ole “wizowizo” Schemion taking home the largest prize of the festival. Schemion triumphed in the $5,200 New Year Series Main Event, earning $224,424 after defeating Brazilian Renan “Internett93o” Bruschi heads-up.

The $5,200 Main Event attracted 230 players, creating a $1,150,000 prize pool. By the end of Day 1, just 15 players remained in contention, with Artem “veeea” Vezhenkov, a three-time Sunday Million champion, leading the pack. Germany’s “assel007” followed closely behind. Schemion, sitting in tenth place, advanced to Day 2, while 2014 WSOP Main Event champion Martin “M.nosbacoJ” Jacobson trailed at the bottom.

Here are the final table chip counts:

1. Artem “veeea” Vezhenkov (Thailand) - 12,784,761

2. assel007 (Germany) - 10,429,300

7. Renan “Internett93o” Bruschi (Brazil) - 3,421,332

8. 99dm84 (Bosnia & Herzegovina) - 3,160,983

14. Damian “pampa27” Salas (Argentina) - 680,046

15. Martin “M.nosbocaJ” Jacobson (United Kingdom) - 417,586

The final table began quickly, with “SerVlaMin” being the first player eliminated. This was followed by the exits of Aliaksei “ale6ka” Boika, Andras “probirs” Nemeth, Casimir “Ceis25” Seire, and Damian “pampa27” Salas. Michael “imluckbox” Addamo was the bubble player, losing his chips with ace-queen against “whaleptt’s” ace-king.

After the first ten minutes, “stek94” became the next to fall. They got involved in a hand with Artem “veeea” Vezhenkov, which resulted in their elimination due to a flush.

Assel007, who started Day 2 in second place, finished in eighth place after losing a crucial hand with ace-eight against “99dm84’s” pocket jacks.

Martin Jacobson followed in seventh place, after losing a big hand to Vezhenkov, who had king-jack suited.

“99dm84” exited in sixth place, all-in with queen-jack against “Phemo” and Schemion. Schemion’s king-five was enough to take down “99dm84.”

Vezhenkov, once the chip leader, dropped to fifth after a series of unfortunate events. He was first overtaken by “Phemo” and then lost a series of hands, ultimately exiting in fifth place.

“Phemo” took fourth, with a last-minute loss to Schemion after a dramatic hand involving a straight draw.

The three remaining players went into a break, with Schemion holding a solid lead over Bruschi and “whaleptt.” The latter quickly became the next casualty, eliminated by Schemion in third for $130,416.

In the heads-up battle, Schemion held a chip advantage of 34.7 million to 22.8 million. After an intense 30-minute clash, Schemion clinched victory in the final hand, with his ace-four beating Bruschi’s pocket sixes, resulting in a $224,424 payday for the champion. Bruschi received $171,081 as the runner-up.
