Has playing poker become an addition for you? Why or why not?

What are some ways to keep it from becoming an addiction?

I used to have an unhealthy relationship with online poker and would play almost nonstop. Over the years, I've become much more disciplined, started playing less, and actually achieved better results because of it. I still consider poker an addiction in the sense that I love the game and think about it often, but I've learned how to manage it in a much healthier way.

My whole life has been one big addiction first it with kids games pick up stick,Jack’s and hopscotch. It didn’t seem like much at the time they were all just enjoyable things to do. Honestly, the list is still growing.Lol

It hasn't become an addiction to me. I play for fun, and I don't play too frequently. I don't think I will ever be addicted to poker..

No, I haven't ever been addicted to playing poker in any way. Gambling is something I have a tight leash on, I will never allow myself sink in deep into the point I will need help.

I have been somewhat addicted to gambling in the past but after making big losses consecutively, I took a long break from gambling. Later, I came back but this time just for fun. I play with small amount and if I deplete my funds, I will stop playing until next month. So, I am not addicted to poker.

Anything can become an addiction if you can't control yourself. Poker itself isn't the problem most times, it's the way we chase losses that causes the problem. I know one guy who kept increasing stakes because he believed the next game would help him recover everything. You can guess how that ended.

That's very true but sometimes I wonder what do you call when someone who plays as a profession. A lot of people play poker and other casino games as a way to make money, and they play too much (because it is their primary income source). Can they be called addicted?

It can be an addition of you play a lot and get agitated when you don't get to play.
