Online poker tends to have higher variance due to tougher fields and faster volume, so bankroll requirements should arguably be higher. Live poker feels softer but swings can still be brutal with fewer hands played. I think people often underestimate live variance because it feels slower.

There is supposed to be a difference between the bankroll rules online and live. The online is more of speed and sharks are everywhere 😂. You can lose your money very quickly before you even adjust. Live games are slower, and players are softer sometimes. But people deceive themselves thinking that the live do not have their own risk. One bad session can still wipe all your money off.

I think they should be adjusted because the environments are different.
Online poker moves faster, so you see more hands, more variance, and more swings in a shorter time. That often calls for a deeper bankroll to handle fluctuations. Live poker is slower with fewer hands per hour, so variance builds more gradually.

Yeah, live is way slower and softer. You can get away with fewer buy-ins because you're not getting crushed by volume or rake as fast. When playing Online, you need more cushion, those swings come at you quick. I'd say 20-30 buy-ins live, 40-50 online.
