Position, in poker, is simply an order in which gamers act at the table. The need for Position lies in the fact that you shape how you decide and act while playing. So, what would you say is the main reason for Position when one is playing poker?

Position is very important. If you raise in early position it's likely you'll get more callers. However, if you're a tight player, and you open with a raise from early position it can also be seen as having a very strong hand. Position commonly affects how I play certain hands, and the players I'm up against. I always try to extract value with strong hands, and protect my hands from players chasing draws/outs with big bets.

Position in poker is crucial because it lets you take control over the pot and it lets you gain access to better decision making.
