In poker, the emotional depth of the player is of superior value as compared to the physical ability. So, our emotional management is of utmost importance.
Managing your emotions will help to;

-Prevents making hasty decisions.
-keep concentration intact.
- optimizes decision-making

It is absolutely important to master your emotional and put it in check when necessary.

I think it would be keeping your emotions in check as if you're mentally there, you're going to not make hasty decisions, make better decisions, and have good concentration on the game over what's around you.

I'd say it's also has to do with adaptability. Being able to adjust your strategy to different table dynamics, opponents, and situations is very crucial. you should be able to switch gears between tight and aggressive play. That's what makes a good player.
