Without knowledge of what to know first in poker, it's definitely going to be very difficult for you to get anywhere far in the game. When I started learning how to play poker, the first thing I had to learn was the pot odds, outs and equity. They are the basic math which plays a role in every decision making process I do in the game.

What was the first thing you learnt in poker?

The first thing I learned is if your going to bluff, don't do it often. I've seen on TV some people bluff their way to a pot but if you do it a lot your bound for someone to call the bluff and doing it again wouldn't work out too well.

The first thing each and every individual who just wants to delve into poker is to understand the fundamentals of Poker such as how the pot odds works because that is how they can gain a solid foundation for making informed decisions in the game.

The first thing I learned was that my uncle was cheating, he would deal the cards too slow and I could see him dealing over a chrome zippo lighter

The fist thing i learn about poker is to learn the poker terminology. Poker have a lot of words you can't hear anywhere! If you don't understand the poker language! How can you play the game! Poker is one of games that hundreds of terminology that will throw a newbie off balance.

The first thing that I absolutely learned as as I got into poker was how to understand the stronger hand. I needed to learn it first because I realized it was the basic strategy that was needed to bet and call. And it was pretty straightforward for me to learn it. Took me two days of tutelage to fully grasp how to understand the stronger hand.
