VPIP = Voluntary Put Money In Pot

As the title says, what VPIP would you consider to be solid percentage/player?

I think if players play 20% or less hands in tournaments, they're usually pretty solid. Typically, the less hands you play the stronger hands you end up playing.

VPIP is a more complicated subject than most people think you can't just say you should play a certain percentage of hands or less. Every position has its own v pip that is profitable, your image at the table also will determine what vpip is best for you.

I sort of agree if you play cash games. However, in tournaments I think tighter players usually last longer.

I think a VPIP of around 20% or even lower is in order. I have learned that in poker tournaments, everything should be deployed just to survive. When one plays fewer hands, it to a large extent eliminates the risk of entering marginal spots. It is all about patience.

You’re on point. Around 20% VPIP is solid for tourneys. Playing fewer hands usually means you’re sticking to stronger spots and staying disciplined. Some players push a bit higher in certain structures, like 22–25%, but generally, tighter ranges give you better control and fewer tricky situations. It’s all about quality over quantity when you’re grinding tournaments.
