What's the longest time you have stayed out from playing poker? It could be as a result of any reason that made you decide to take a hiatus in order to clear your head and get some things right before coming back to the game.

Did your time off the game help you become better what you returned?

I would say that the longest I have stayed away from playing poker would be around two years when I took a huge break due to being burned out on playing.

I stopped playing for long periods. I've had some crushing beats, max pain which is why I force bankroll management on myself, and rarely take shots at bigger buy-ins now.

If I do, and don't win. I move back down, and build back up before taking anymore shots at bigger games. I needed a break to clear my mind.

Probably years since I started with friends. I don't play much is why so it's no surprise that it would be years.

There was a time I took a break from poker for a year, because I was occupied with a particular exam that I needed to do well in.

There was a time after I stopped playing live, around 2012 when I played very little for a few years. I didn't love online poker at the time. I still probably played about 10-20 times a year but not often.

I'm not doing video poker now and I haven't done it since probably 2007, at the least. I haven't even played any video game versions. Well, it was becoming a problem as I wasn't winning, so it was just foolish.

It's been a six-month break now and I'm still on it. I took a break because of a really devastating downswing but I'm learning the ropes and will come out stronger. It’s really helping me recharge and rethink my strategy. I watch more videos now.

I can't remember but I'm quite positive that breaks away from poker are beneficial for players so they can recharge and refocus. Some players take advantage of this time to assess their strategy and work on their mental game.

I play poker with friends occasionally but i don't get involve with online poker because I still see myself as amateur. Am using every opportunity to learn and relearn. Am learning a lot from this forum.

Taking a break from poker can be very beneficial because it help you reassess your game and it could create time to learn and improve whether through self studying or using the forums like this one.

After ultimate bet burned me for everything in my account, I took about a year off

That must have been so tough on you. I'm in support of taking a break. Taking a year off is probably the best call. It can help you clear your head and come back with fresh perspectives.
