When I have won substantially and then start losing little, I quit. I also quit when my bankroll drops by 50 percent.

Once you are getting frustrated and it starts controlling your decisions, it's time to go. I learned that lesson years ago. There comes a point where you're no longer playing the game; you're fighting your emotions. That's usually when mistakes multiply and sometimes becomes uncontrollable.

When I used to play cash games, I'd sit down and play until I either reached my goal or went bust. With tournaments, I take a different approach. I give myself a set number of bullets and limit how much I play each day.

Tournaments can be mentally exhausting, especially when you're running deep. A successful run can last several hours, requiring constant focus and decision-making. Setting limits on buy-ins and volume helps prevent burnout and keeps me playing my best over the long term.

I usually quit when I notice my focus slipping, I'm getting tired, or my decisions are becoming emotional. I'd rather end a session early than keep playing when I'm no longer at my best.
